A 35 year old state counsel at DPP in Lobatse, Mompati Koosimile was arraigned today on three counts before chief magistrate Goabaone Rammapudi Lesedi.
On count 1, the accused is facing a charge of unlawful gathering. Particulars of the offence are that on 31 December 2020 at or near Magokotswane ward in Molepolole, without lawful excuse unlawfully failed to comply with Covid 19 regulations by allowing more than two people to convene at a farm belonging to his mother.
On count 2, Koosimile is facing a charge of assaulting a public officer whilst on duty. Particulars of the offence are that on the same date and place the accused unlawfully assaulted Theo Ntikane being a member of Botswana Defence Force whilst in duty.
His last charge is that of resisting arrest.
Particulars of the offence are that on the same fate the accused did resist lawful arrest which was made by Inspector Mpaleng and his team for offences of unlawful gathering and assaulting a public officer in the due execusion of his duty.
He was not asked to plead to allow him to avail his legal representation. The matter was adjourned to 24th May 2021.
